Very good, but could be better.
My biggest complaint with this app is the fact that the phrases are not spelled out phonetically in the speakers language/lettering. For example: If you speak English and are looking up a phrase in Russian, the phrase will be written in Arabic. This is handy, to be sure, but having the phrase spelled out phonetically using the English alphabet ALONGSIDE the Cryllic (or other translated language) would be a fantastic addition and would immediately make this a 5-star application.
Additionally, echoing many of the other comments, the spoken phrases are often too fast. This fact, combined with the selection of phrases, make this much more of a travellers companion of essentials to get by with, rather than an application that can be more readily used to actually learn the fundamentals of a given language. This is a shame, since it could very easily be both.
I am in Iraq, working alongside people who speak Swahili, Russian, Turkish, Tagalog, and Arabic, and had high hopes that this application would allow me to learn enough of each language (except Swahili, which is not supported) to establish basic communications and simple phrases. I still think it will allow me to do so -- but at a much slower pace.
If you are considering buying this application, I suggest trying the (currently) free Italian version to see how it works.
